CISCEA modernizes simulator

The Airspace Control System Implementation Commission (CISCEA) has completed the expansion and modernization of the 360° Control Tower Simulator, which is in operation at the Airspace Control Institute (ICEA) in São José dos Campos (SP). The initiative included the integration of the TATIC SIM system, which simulates the TATIC TWR, allowing Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs) to interact with Electronic Flight Progress Strips (EPFS), providing a more realistic experience in ATCO training and refresher courses.

Lucas Rodrigues, Saipher Project Manager, led the integration of TATIC SIM into the simulator. According to him, the project required coordination between teams and international partners. "The result brought significant improvements to the simulation experience for the retraining of air traffic controllers. After all, it is essential that the controller works in an environment as close as possible to a real situation".

The event was opened and closed by the Director of ICEA, Colonel Carlos Zica. The implementation was coordinated by Herbert Gutemberg, Project Manager at ATC Systems and representative of ACAMS in Brazil, in partnership with Micronav, a British company and developer of the simulator. Lieutenant Colonel Deoclides Fernandes, Head of the Operational Division at CISCEA, supervised the delivery of the project together with the Project Coordinator, Mário Franco. The CISCEA team was responsible for the acceptance tests of the system in the field.
