Saipher at the Latin American Satellite Congress

Saipher participated in the 23rd edition of the Latin American Satellite Congress, held from October 1st to 3rd in Rio de Janeiro. The event, recognized as the most important meeting of the satellite market in Latin America, brought together around 300 professionals to discuss the main technological trends, business models and opportunities in the space sector, as well as civil and military applications.

Saipher's Product Director, Fred Boratto, was present at the "Sustainability and Space Resilience" panel. He presented the company's advances and highlighted the trajectory of Saipher, a 100% Brazilian company, a pioneer in air traffic control, which is now breaking paradigms with a fully national system to carry out activities that, until now, depended exclusively on foreign systems.

During his presentation, he emphasized the growing problem of space debris and the challenges that the sector will face in the coming years, with the significant increase in satellites orbiting the Earth. "Today, we have around 25,000 objects larger than 10 cm and 130 million objects larger than 1 mm. However, they are orbiting at approximately 27,000 km/h and can cause damage to operational satellites. Furthermore, it is not just a matter of avoiding collisions but also of avoiding unnecessary maneuvers since while the satellite is maneuvering, it stops performing its main activity. Furthermore, the act of maneuvering consumes energy, which reduces the useful life of the satellite and makes the investment more expensive", he pointed out. On the occasion, the Director presented the HORUS system, developed by Saipher, which offers modules for tracking space objects and analyzing the risk of collision and reentry of satellites. He also highlighted the autonomous telescope installed in Brasília, designed to operate automatically and provide accurate data on space traffic, which is under the supervision and coordination of Saipher. "Horus Cosmos, one of the systems in the Horus Suite, represents an important step for Saipher in the area of Space Situational Awareness (SSA), and we are ready to contribute to the future of space security," he highlighted. He concluded by reaffirming Saipher's commitment to developing innovative solutions for monitoring and protecting space activities, collaborating with partners and institutions to strengthen the sector.
